They have the BEST sausage! They know how to make a good pizza. Best pizza I have had in the East Valley. He gets the cheese imported from Wisconsin and the sausage from the Southside of Chicago. The owners are very nice. If you are from Chicagoland and want a yummy thin sausage pizza, COME here.

Moved to Mesa 3 months ago from Chicago. Did a search for Chicago style pizza and found this place. I ordered 2 thin crust pizzas and I had to run to the store before I picked them up. I was running a little bit late and they actually called to let me know my pizzas were done and ready to be picked up. I picked them up and when I got home they were still hot and fresh. Coming from Chicago I am very particular about my pizza. This place is the best place I have found so far for pizza and I have tried all of the pizza places around me. I look forward to trying the deep dish next time.

First time ordered a large 2 topping thin crust pizza and wings. Pizza very bland, too much sauce. Mushrooms you could tell were from a can or jar and placed under the cheese. Wings hardly had any flavor or sauce for being medium, ranch was watered down.

Best pizza in East Valley. We are from Chicago and were disappointed in the AZ pizza choices until we found Fatman's. Love the thin to the stuffed. Great sausage and sauce.

Moved to Mesa less than a year ago and we've been desperately searching for a good ole chicago style pizza place. We're happy to report we found it in Fatman's Pizza. Great deep dish pizza from a guy that's actually from the north side of Chicago.

I've ordered delivery from here before, and it had previously has been a pleasant experience. After a very frusterating phone call to order 2 pizzas on a what-should-be easy and slow tuesday night, I gave up and ordered pizza hut. The girl at the other end was completely unprofessional and was distracted by someone else talking to her, I even had to ask her stop listening to the other people and to listen to me. She didnt even notice I had ordered 2 different pizzas with two different toppings by the time I had her read me back the order. Then she said my one pizza was going to be burnt because they were going to go in at the same time? I was so frusterated that i told her to cancel the order. I hope this was just a one-time thing, because I really do like their pizzas.

Fantastic food. Fabulous staff. Drove from Mesa/Tempe area for a great pizza and family friendly staff. Affordable even for a family of five. Will definitely be back!

We went here on the recommendation of a friend, who told us it was the best Chicago-style pizza she had ever had outside of the Windy City, and she was right. It was delicious, with a fantastic combination of cheese, sauce and crust cooked to perfection. We'll definitely go back again!

They are gluten free friendly and the sauce is spectacular. Most pizzas are ready in 20 minutes. The service is good and the owners always come out to greet you like an old friend.

I'm a pizza snob and sorely miss Geno's East and Ricobini's back in Chicago. Fatmans is the best Deep Dish Spinach I've had in years! 2 slices of the 14" and I was full & happy. This is the real deal. I swear.

Who has two thumbs and loves Fatmans? THIS GUY! Hours are a bit odd, but waiting for those doors to open is worth every delicious bite of that menu.

We just finished The Works pizza from Fatman's Pizza. I'm not going to claim to be a pizza connisuer, but this pizza was delicious!!! It had everything we wanted for our first pizza since moving down to Mesa on Nov. 1st. We will definitely be back!!!

Amazing pizza. I love Chicago Style deep dish pizza. This is the best that I've ever had, and my entire family agrees. This is the only place we will go for pizza now! The owner was extremely friendly and talked to my parents for quite a while. This was also the heaviest pizza we have ever ordered. They aren't kidding when they say they put a lot of toppings on, but it's a good thing.

Good pizza. Lots of it. Ordered two med size pizzas felt like I was carrying a med size turkey to the car. Takes a long time to cook ,so order before your hungry. They will tell you how long it should take . A second mortgage may be needed it is a bit high priced. Again you do get what you pay for.

Ordered stuffed deep dish veggie pizza which took an hour to make. That wasn't a problem. It was however barely warm when we received it straight out the oven. The wife was fantastic and very nice! Discounted our meal due to cold pizza. The best part was the cannoli!! She makes it when you order and it is to die for!! Just make sure to bring cash or suffer the consequence of the $2.50 ATM fee.

It was a dark and starry night. Late too. The only thing growling louder than the coyotes of the Superstition Mountains hunting reality TV crews was the growling of our stomachs. A meal was in order. Pizza seemed to be the item that would put the inner coyotes to rest. We checked out the ratings in AJ, finding Fatman's. We tried it. We had a pepperoni pizza and dinner salad. The service was excellent, the pizza delicious, the salad fresh and greener than the desert after four good soaking rainstorms. Pizza is a very personal item. You should try Fatman's and see if you live in the same universe we do. We'd return. Owoooooooooooo yip yip yip

Just met the owners of this great little pizzeria last night! While I'm not from Chicago -where everyone claims to know good pizza but to us, this was good pizza!! The place was clean, fast service and friendly staff. Keep in mind AJ is a 'seasonal town' and the bulk of business comes from our "snowbirds or winter visitors" and therefore business will be BUSY from about Halloween to Mothers Day (end of Oct-Mid May) so plan accordingly. Give yourself some time to order or to sit down and eat--whats the rush?! Also a note to out -of -towners (aka my mom) everyday is like vacation here, we do business different and we enjoy life. NO hustle bustle here. Arizona's diversity and laid back attitude is why I Love AZ !!

Best pizza I have found here in the East Valley. The high quality ingredients they use make the difference between a good pizza and a great Pizza. It's not fine dining decor, but that is not why I always return. Keep up the high quality ingredients along with the excellent tomato sauce and the stars will continue to be high.

I could live off their Chicago style deep dish. It is perfection! The wings are also great, and those sugar nuggets..mmmm. The restaurant is nice to dine in, and the owner and his wife are very nice as well.

Very good pizza for Arizona. It is a Chicago style place, I am from NY so I am a harsh pizza critic. I paid $24 for an 16 inch thin crust loaded with toppings, sounds pricey huh? Well me and my buddy ate 2 slices each and were full and we are not small guys with small appetites either. I have ate twice there and my only complaint is it is a bit slow to get food out but well worth the wait. Oh, one more complaint, get a location in Tempe, AJ is too far from me. ;-)

Where should I start... First off they clearly don't live in the 21st century.. The hours listed on Google are incorrect I drove all the way there thinking it was open come to find out they only open at 4pm not 11am . Not exactly sure why but I decided to give them another chance so I went back after 4pm of course . I then learn once I get there that they only accept cash . luckily they have an ATM handy so I. Would spend money to get money out to pay them for my pizza... Why make the customer pay 15% of the total to an ATM machine to pay for the pizza.. If you had a credit card machine you can build the 3% fees you pay into the cost of the pizza... This is a huge turn off and not to mention a huge inconvenience. If I had to rate just the pizza alone I would give it 3 stars . it was decent but surely not worth all the trouble to get it . I would like to hope they would read this and learn to better serve their customers... But I know that won't happen based on the fact they neglect to update information on huge sites such as Google .

Really good pizza place great food no complaints very filling and good pizza joint.Good place if you just want to eat pizza and just relax after a day on lake.

I really really want to rate this higher, but alas I can't. A small family run place. I have tried the pizza a couple times. Toppings are a plenty, but flavor, not so much. Please add something to that sauce and then there is perfection. Til then, others will get my business.

Being a Chicago transplant, it's fair to say that I KNOW pizza. Particularly deep dish. Fatman's does deep dish right! I don't get out to the east valley very often but when I do, I order the SMOG (sausage, mushroom, green pepper and onion) with black olives added. The star of the group is the hearty chunks of real Italian sausage. Tastes like home! I have tried both thin crust and deep dish and I have to say the deep dish style is the best. Today I picked up a pie on my way home from work, which meant nearly an hour in Phoenix rush hour traffic. The problem with deep dish is the bottom crust can get really soggy from all of the ingredients, but not this pie! The bottom crust held up really well and didn't turn into mush! My only complaint, and the reason for 4 stars, is their pies need salt! I am not one to over season my meals, but in the three times I have ordered, I felt there is something lacking. Perhaps it just needs a little more sauce? I'm not sure. Once I added a sprinkling of salt the flavors really bloomed. I think I'll order extra sauce next time and see if that makes a difference. If not, no big deal. I'll just keep my salt shaker nearby!

I've been wanting to try fatmans since an article in the paper several years back, just never had the opportunity to try it. Now that they moved to a more convenient location I was excited to try the pizza. We got the deep dish and the presentation was amazing. The pizza was loaded with cheese and toppings the crust was cooked perfectly. But once I got the pizza home it severely lacked flavor. I am very disappointed

This Wisconsin girl is HAPPY! Once I bit into the cheese bread I had to ask and sure enough, the cheese IS from Wisconsin and the meat is brought in from Chicago!! WOW, I'm amazed. The pizza was the best I've had in Arizona so far and the Chicken Parmesan was just as awesome, not to mention HUGE portions!! On top of all that, the owners were so nice and you could tell they genuinely cared about your opinion on the food. My new favorite place for sure.

We had the stuffed pizza and would definitely go back again. If you plan on having the stuffed pizza I recommend calling about 1 hour ahead of time because it takes a long time to make.

Pizza very mediocre. Had deep dish sausage. Pizza seemed under cooked in the middle and outside crust a bit on the well done side. Lots of cheese. Sausage just ok. Place itself needs updating. Waitress very sweet and helpful. Can't see going back. Too bad. I'm Kind of a pizza snob always looking for great pizza. Went from Avondale to Apache Junction to try this. Sorry environment. Wasted finite resources.

Ordered a works pizza and a antipasto salad. I wanted to get it delivered but it was going to be an hour and a half so I picked it up which still ended up being ready in the same time. The salad was mainly onion and green peppers. The pizza was mainly onion green peppers and cheese. The pizza is big but to get it cooked they have to burn the crust. Overall expensive and not good.

I love reading all the reviews about this mysteriously good Fatman's Pizza and Grill... the smell of the pizza, the amazing Chicago style deep dish...you would think that with my one star rating- I have already tried Fatman's. But, NOPE! And I won't. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place after driving by one day, and we thought.... that HAS to be good pizza with a name like that. One day, we called and placed and order for pick up, for ONE medium pepperoni pizza, that's all.... just one pizza, and they told us the wait was going to be over an hour!??! That was ridiculously long in our book and at that point were already hungry so we opted for something else, no big deal we thought, they are probably just super busy. We called back a week later, thinking we would give it another try. My boyfriend got put on hold for 10 minutes. TEN. In the mean time, he could hear the waitress taking other customers orders. Finally someone got back with him to only to tell him that they hadn't forgotten him and would get to me soon. He mentioned that he had been on hold for a while and asked when he would finally get to place our order, which the employee replied "Well, I'm getting to you right now" in a very rude and impatient tone as if he had no business asking why it was taking so long. He asked if the manager was there, which she said yes. He asked to speak to them, and was again given an attitude and she said "What can I help you with". He asked if she was the manager, and after a brief, incomplete sentence that again showed her unprofessional demeanor, handed the phone to the manager. He explained the situation, and surprisingly he was very rude as well in his explanation that apparently he had to "wait his turn" (apparently that takes over ten minutes) because they are "the busiest pizza place in town". If they are so busy and as popular as they let on/seem to be, perhaps they should hire some more employees to manage the busy times. They just lost two customers, who didn't even get to try the actual product- all because of poor customer service. And trust me, word travels fast, and I will be very happy to let others know (if they ask) about just how terrible the customer service is at this place.

Really good food, and as a girl from Chicago, REALLY good Chicago style pizza. The bad? the decor really needs a revamp, chairs/tables in particular, it just looks like they live above it, thats how homey and cafeteria-esk it is. Also they have a small oven, so if its busy AT ALL, your going to be WAITING, so go to hang out, its not your place if your in a hurry. The food really does shine, and I really do recommend it, sometimes the best places are the family run "hole-in-the-wall" places you just wouldnt think would be amazing BUT ARE!

The deep dish pizza was amazing! I have never had such good deep dish, or any pizza in the valley (been here for 23 years), as good as this place. I'm so glad we just moved out here or else I would never have tired this place. It does take 45 minutes to make the deep dish, so best call ahead and pick up, or get a drink and relax in the casual dining area. All the other food looked great too, as far as I could tell from looking around. Nice neighborhood joint, don't' expect fancy schmancy here. Just what we like!

I can't tell you how reassuring and happy-dance-making talking to the owner of a pizza joint who knows what gluten is makes a celiac. I called before we went in to see how they prepare their gluten free pizza. They use the same oven, but it's got it's own special tray and they are very careful. It's rare to feel safe when ordering at a restaurant when gluten is so prevalent. My mom and her bf got onion rings to start with. Nice and crispy they said. I had a salad. They weren't sure if dressing was gluten free, so they brought me oil and vinegar which works for me. My mom and her bf got "the works". It did take 40 minutes to get to our table, but they warned us. They have limited oven space and the restaurant was full. They were moaning with happiness over their pizza. The gluten free pizza wasn't the best, but that's because gluten free crust kinda sucks anywhere you go. The toppings were still nice and fresh and the sauce flavorful. The service is what is giving this place the five stars! The couple that owns the place checked on us twice, making sure my mom was happy and letting me know my pizza was safe. The waitress was also sweet. She refilled my mom's boyfriend's root beer about six times. If you're a local I'm sure you've been here. If you're visiting, put it on your to do list =).

The only reason I am giving it one star is because there is no option for zero stars. This restaurant needs to stop advertising that it's "Chicago" Pizza...not even close!!! This pizza is all cheese and it's disgusting! If you want Chicago Pizza order Lou Malnati's online and have it shipped. Otherwise Rosatis isn't bad. Just don't go here thinking you are getting pizza from Chicago because you aren't!!!

By far the best pizza I've had in the east valley. I highly recommend the deep dish. Best I've had since living out east and the staff are very friendly. If you intend to eat in the restaurant, order deep dish pizzas ahead of time. Like a true deep dish, they cook for quite a long time but are well worth the wait

We stumbled on this place by accident, but it may be the happiest accident I have ever experienced. After we ordered we struck up conversation with the owner, and after telling us his story we couldn't wait to get our food. The pizza was extraordinary. We ordered one each of their specials, and I was absolutely amazed by the quality of the ingredients. It was the best pizza I think I have ever had. If I ever find myself anywhere near here again, I will be there without hesitation.

1st-time customer. This isn't NOT Chicago style deep dish pizza. Totally skimped on the marinara and the fLaVoR (NO zest whatsoever). Gave up pizza for lent (40 days!) and called to inquire about their product. The owners wife answered and she was extremely quick to get us off the phone; unwilling to hear us out. Had a group of 7 people who were eager to get down on some tasty slices and I can speak for all... we were pretty let down, especially after the phone conversation :(

Not what you're hoping for. Poor service and pizza is not what someone from Jersey would expect.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
